A singer and friend of late cancer campaigner Dame Deborah James was invited to enjoy the tennis from Wimbledon‘s royal box yesterday – alongside Kate Middleton.
Deborah, a broadcaster and former headteacher, known as Bowel Babe, died at the age of 40 in June 2022, five years after being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer when she found blood in her stool.
Natalie Rushdie, a classically-trained jazz singer who has sung at the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Stadium, was asked to perform a cover of Deborah’s single, Tell Me It’s Not True, at her funeral.
