Star Wars room decorated for cancer-free Maine teen [Video]

Mari Barnard, 15, was greeted by stormtroopers and other Star Wars characters in her backyard Tuesday

LISBON, Maine — 15-year-old Mari Barnard recently spent many months dealing with treatments in her battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Those treatments kept the creative mind from expressing herself through art, so on Tuesday through Make-A-Wish Maine, Mari was surprised with her own Star Wars-themed creative space.

On the one-year anniversary of being cancer-free, Barnard was escorted in a limo to her house and walked into her backyard to find authentic licensed Star Wars characters including stormtroopers from the 501st Legion.

Mari told NEWS CENTER Maine that while she was undergoing those treatments, she wasn’t able to draw or think about much. But now, with her new Star Wars space, she’ll be able to get back to doing the kind of art that she loves.

Second-line CAR-T therapy in B-cell lymphoma [Video]

Peter M. Riedell, MD, University of Chicago Medicine, Chicago, IL, shares updates from the Phase III ZUMA-7 trial (NCT03391466) of the anti CD19 axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel), a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy in patients with relapsed/refractory (r/r) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL). A superior event-free survival and overall survival were reported in the axi-cel arm and the findings corroborate with data from the Phase III TRANSFORM trial (NCT03575351), demonstrating the potential of CAR T-cell therapy as a second-line option for LBCL. This interview took place at the 63rd ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition congress in Atlanta, GA.
