☕Today we are pleased to speak with Dee Burrell, a 16-year breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed with a rare but aggressive type of cancer. Dee will speak about her participation in a clinical trial that she partially credits for her positive outcome. ☕Dee is a Patient Co-Creation Council member for a huge pharmaceutical company, a mentor for Twist Out Cancer, a Toastmaster, and a member of Wanderful a global travel women’s group. Dee has traveled to Singapore, Switzerland, and Florida to participate as a panelist for breast cancer. Her personal travels have taken her to many Caribbean destinations including Barbados, Aruba, Jamaica, Mexico, Alaska, and many other places. She was awarded as one of Susan G. It’s time to meet our newest #OwlSTAR…Darius! Originally from Gainesville, Darius is entering his senior year at #FloridaAtlantic as a Biological Science major with a minor in Health Administration. He is a member of the Florida Atlantic Chapter of the NAACP, the Black Student Union, the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, and he is an RA in Atlantic Park Towers. Darius also formerly served as the Ways and Means Chairmen of the Boca Raton House of Representatives and currently stays connected as a volunteer! After graduation, he plans to go to Medical School and then become a Surgical Oncologist. With a family history of breast, skin, and bone marrow cancer, Darius would like to change the lives of patients and families who have been affected by theses deadly diseases.
