Liz Scott is the Co-Executive Director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, but she is most proud of her title of “Mom” to three sons, Patrick, Eddie, and Joey, and daughter Alex.ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of Liz’s daughter, Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for other children with cancer. In her lifetime, Alex would raise over $1 million before she passed away in 2004 at the age of 8. Since then, Liz and her husband Jay have worked alongside thousands of supporters across the country to carry on her legacy of hope.To date, ALSF has raised more than $200 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, having funded over 1,000 pediatric cancer research projects and assisted more than 10,000 families through their national support programs.Liz holds a BA in psychology from The University of Connecticut and honorary doctorates from Drexel University, Villanova University and Baylor School of Medicine. This month’s guest is Division F Director (2021-22), Kelly Leibold. Her division serves the southeastern part of Minnesota. Kelly is a brain cancer survivor, a former city council member in Pine City, MN, and volunteers often in her community. She credits Toastmasters for helping her develop her time management skills. She credits a former Area Director for inviting her to step up to leadership. Kelly said that she was able to develop a perspective on Toastmasters that she may not have gotten otherwise due to her leadership role. She learned what works and what doesn’t in different club environments, corporate vs community clubs for example.
