Why Colorful Christmas Sweets May Pose Health Risks [Video]

Early-onset colorectal cancer incidence among the young, defined as those under age 50, has been rising globally since the early 1990s. Rates for colon and rectal cancers are expected to increase by 90% and 124%, respectively, by 2030.

One suspected reason behind this trend is increased global consumption of a Westernized diet that consists heavily of red and processed meats, added sugar and refined grains. Sixty percent of the Standard American Diet, also known as “SAD,” is made up of ultra-processed food such as industrial baked sweets, soft drinks and processed meat. SAD is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer.

One aspect of ultra-processed foods I’m concerned about is how colorful they are. This characteristic is on full display in many delicious foods and treats present during the year-end holidays. Indian Hill community mourns the loss of beloved teacher [Video]

The Indian Hill community is mourning the loss of a beloved educator. Indian Hill High School Choir and Theater Director Jeff Clark died Tuesday from advanced stage four colon cancer. "The beloved, award-winning educator brought to life some of the most memorable productions to grace the Indian Hill High School Auditorium," the Indian Hill School District said. Clark has been with the district since 2016. He's been an educator since 2001. We are devastated, with our students, our parents, and our community, at the loss of this passionate educator, who offered our students incredible, unparalleled experiences in the arts, said Indian Hill School District CEO/Superintendent Kirk Koennecke. Our hearts are with Mr. Clarks family.

Teacher And Coach Greeted At Hospital After Final Chemo Treatment [Video]

A high school teacher and Varsity baseball coach in Saginaw, Michigan was leaving a medical center after his 12th and final round of chemotherapy only to find a huge group of supporters clapping and cheering for him! Family, friends, his baseball team all in uniform and so many others greeted Brendan Harrison as he exited the medical center where he was being treated for colon cancer.
