NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Meet Minnie Pearl, the newest member of the TriStar Centennial Medical Center team.
Minnie Pearl is an eight-month-old French Bulldog. She was named in honor of the impact the hospital’s Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute had on providing care for cancer patients across Middle Tennessee and beyond.
Sarah Cannon was a famous television and radio personality. She was known worldwide for her Grand Ole Opry character “Minnie Pearl.”
After Cannon received breast cancer treatment at the TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, she decided to use her name to promote cancer research and patient education.
Minnie Pearl had her first patient visit this week and made her red carpet debut. At the hospital, Minnie Pearl will spend time with patients to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
