During this time, the UK was experiencing the beginning of a heat wave. Heatstrokes are quite common in hot temperatures and those who spend most of their day out in the sun are most susceptible to it. The Results Were Much Worse Than She Would Have Thought…The MRI scan report came a week later, showing the reason for the headaches was not the heatwave as Sykes thought. In fact, she has a mass of tumors that could be deadly, from heatstroke to brain tumor. A grade 4 tumor is the most aggressive and grows at a rapid rate. Let’s Talk A Little About GBM In Detail…It’s still not clear how GBM occurs. Just as in the case with most other cancers, it takes root when cell grow uncontrollably and form a tumor. Fortunately, There’s Still Hope…Although not curable, advancements made in medical science mean there are a couple of treatments that can extend the lifespan of patients with brain tumors. As It Goes With Cancer, The Brain Tumor Didn’t Affect Just Janet…The hardest hit, perhaps, is her family. Janet and her husband Steve are parents of two boys aged eight and four. While many families may choose to shield children of such a young age from such news, the Sykes couples has chosen to be open about the situation with their kids. Unfortunately, Brain Cancer Can Surprise You Anytime…A brain tumor is certainly not one of the things you would think about in relation to your health. It’s not something that’s outwardly visible, as would be the case with most other diseases. Is There Genetics Behind Brain Cancer? In some who have cancer, there is a genetic marker called MGMT methylation. Those with this genetic marker have a much better chance of survival. What Are The First Signs Of A Brain Tumor? Persistent headaches are a big giveaway that something’s not right. But you need to be extra alert if your headaches are worse in the morning when waking up or occur while you’re sleeping.
