Yelena Janjigian, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, presents the results of the randomized, double-blind, Phase III COMPASSION-15 trial (NCT05008783). The study showed that administering cadonilimab, an anti-PD-L1 and CTLA-4 bispecific antibody, resulted in a promising response rate in patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic gastric cancer. These findings suggest that the dual PD-L1 and CTLA4 blockade can be targeted safely in combination with chemotherapy. Dr Janjigian concludes that a follow-up and efficacy study is required in the Western patient populace, with a comparator cohort other than chemotherapy, such as nivolumab.
