The report quotes Tina Mickelson, Phil’s sister, saying that her mother was diagnosed a week ago and will undergo surgery Friday at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Amy Mickelson, Phil’s wife, had surgery for her breast cancer at the same hospital Wednesday.. So far, the prognosis is positive, with the pathology on Amy’s tumor believed to be healthier than expected.

“She is hanging in there with everything, and this initial positive news is a relief,” Tina Mickelson told the paper about Amy. “She still has a long road ahead of her, but at least things are looking like they are heading in the right direction.”
