A new vaccine using the same mRNA technology as the Pfizer jab against COVID-19 could be a breakthrough in the fight against pancreatic cancer. In a promising early study conducted by German company BioNTech — which partnered with Pfizer to develop the lifesaving COVID shot — half of the patients remained cancer-free 18 months after having their tumors removed and receiving the jabs. The groundbreaking trial — led by Dr. Vinod Balachandran at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan — presented its promising results at the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference in Chicago on Sunday.Doctors said the results showed that the vaccine could train the immune system to kill pancreatic cancer cells by boosting immune cells that target tumors.#cancer #vaccines #cures The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertainment, opinion, real estate, culture, fashion, and more.Subscribe to New York Post Sports: https://www.youtube.com/c/nypostsportsCatch the latest news here: https://nypost.com/Follow The New York Post on:Twitter – https://twitter.com/nypostFacebook – https://www.facebook.com/NYPost

Usually, when pancreatic cancer is detected it will be either of the endocrine or exocrine cells. Exocrine cancers are more common than endocrine ones. Risk factors of pancreatic cancerSmokers are two times more likely to develop pancreatic cancer. Smokeless tobacco products and cigar smoking are equally dangerous. Almost 25% of people with pancreatic cancer develop it because of smoking tobacco. Signs and symptomsThe worst part about this cancer is that oftentimes the signs and symptoms are ignored until the tumor has spread to other organs.Color changes in your skinYellowing of the sclera or the white portion of your eyes and skin should never go unnoticed. It can be because of Jaundice.Dark brown peeSerum bilirubin levels of more than 2.5 mg per decilitre can be dangerous. The average range of bilirubin in healthy adults is less than 1 mg per DL. Anything more than this is considered hyperbilirubinemia. It may or may not affect your urine till it reaches 3 mg per DL. Stool different from normalI know it’s a little weird to take a look at the toilet bowl once you are done with your business. But a quick glance may actually tell a lot about your pancreatic health.Irresistible skin itchDry, rough, patchy, and red skin can have many causes from poor moisturizing to allergies and insect bites. If these symptoms come and go periodically then it is definitely not related to pancreatic cancer.Losing WeightUnexplained weight loss and loss of appetite go hand in hand. When a pancreatic tumor sits right on top of the stomach it exerts pressure on it on your stomach.DepressionPancreatic cancer can take a toll on your emotions. Depression can have a million different reasons but it is possible for people with pancreatic cancer to feel depressed.Rise in your blood glucose levelThen this could indicate pancreatic cancer. Since cancer destroys insulin-producing cells your blood sugar level shoots up.NauseaThe typical smell and taste of a few foods can make you nauseated. Overexertion, exposure to sunlight, and indigestion can be the typical causes of nausea and vomiting.Enlarged gallbladderThe gallbladder is a small sac that looks like a deflated balloon and is situated near the liver. The obstruction of the bile duct can make bile accumulate in it.For more information, please watch the video until the very end.—————————————————————————————-Subscribe to Bestie : https://goo.gl/tUqro6—————————————————————————————-Our Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bestieinc/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bestiehealth/

Marcus Noel, MD describes his GI Research InterestsTranscript:My current research has focused on pancreatic cancer. I consider myself a drug developer and or clinical investigator. And so what that means is that I work with various companies or organizations to design clinical trials geared to improve outcomes and pancreatic cancer. One project I’m most excited about right now is a phase one trial-combining FOLFIRINOX plus a drug called abraxane. This is a novel drug that is in development for pancreatic cancer, and we’re privileged to have this trial open at Georgetown at this time, looking to determine the safety of the combination of FOLFIRINOX plus abraxane, and hopefully with some successful design larger trials, looking at efficacy to determine if this does in fact, help patients to live longer.
Pancreatic cancer arises when cells in the pancreas, a glandular organ behind the stomach, begin to multiply out of control and form a mass. These cancerous cells have the ability to invade other parts of the body.A number of types of pancreatic cancer are known. The most common, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, accounts for about 90% of cases, and the term “pancreatic cancer” is sometimes used to refer only to that type. These adenocarcinomas start within the part of the pancreas that makes digestive enzymes. Several other types of cancer, which collectively represent the majority of the non-adenocarcinomas, can also arise from these cells. About 1–2% of cases of pancreatic cancer are neuroendocrine tumors, which arise from the hormone-producing cells of the pancreas These are generally less aggressive than pancreatic adenocarcinoma.Signs and symptoms of the most-common form of pancreatic cancer may include yellow skin, abdominal or back pain, unexplained weight loss, light-colored stools, dark urine, and loss of appetite. Usually, no symptoms are seen in the disease’s early stages, and symptoms that are specific enough to suggest pancreatic cancer typically do not develop until the disease has reached an advanced stage. By the time of diagnosis, pancreatic cancer has often spread to other parts of the body.
Pancreatic cancer is more common than you think, so its high time you keep an eye on the symptoms, and get treated without any delay.
