The University of Michigan Medical School has what’s known as a one-year preclinical curriculum, so our students begin their clinical rotations in their second year unlike students at many other medical schools.

Dr. Andrew Tai, assistant dean for early medical education, explains how this means that our students spend less time in lecture halls and more time learning to become a doctor and exploring their interests in medicine — all with plenty of support and guidance.
