Dr. Porcu asked LRF to clarify an answer to a question in our Ask the Doctor program on Thursday, February 29th regarding indications for the HepB vaccination.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s current recommendations are that the following groups should receive the HepB vaccine:

• All infants
• All children and adolescents younger than 19 years of age who have not been vaccinated
• Adults aged 19 through 59 years
• Adults aged 60 years and older with risk factors for hepatitis B
The following groups may receive hepatitis B vaccination:
o Adults aged 60 years and older without known risk factors for hepatitis B
