PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A former Arizona’s Family reporter offers his insights and reaction to the death of O.J. Simpson after extensively covering Simpson’s murder trial in the summer of 1994.

Simpson’s family said he died from prostate cancer on Wednesday at the age of 76.

Far overshadowing his football career, Simpson will be remembered as the center of one of the most sensational murder trials in American history.

He won the Heisman trophy in 1968 and played 11 seasons in the NFL, later being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

But in June 1994, millions watched police chase Simpson, who was driving in his white Bronco on the freeways of Los Angeles.

His ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Ron Goldman were found stabbed to death.

A jury found Simpson not guilty, but he was later found responsible for their deaths in civil court.
