BBC presenter Nick Owen struggled telling children about cancer diagnosis [Video]

Former breakfast TV presenter Nick Owen has opened up on how difficult it was to tell his children about his cancer diagnosis.

The presenter, who has become a familiar face on BBC Midlands Today over 25 years, announced he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in April 2023, saying a few months later that his cancer was ‘aggressive’ and ‘extensive’.

In the following weeks, after opening up about the ‘worst day of [his] life’, Owen took some time off work before returning in September, having undergone treatment.

He’s since been urging people to get checked, even if they don’t have any symptoms, and has now opened up about the emotional conversations he faced with his sons.

The 76-year-old fears his sons may be at risk, but received the news a few weeks ago that, after a prostate-specific antigen test, his cancer has not returned.
