LAFAYETTE Ind. (WLFI) – The Indiana House sent Senate Bill 273 to the Governor’s desk for signing this week, with the intention of improving Hoosiers’ access to cancer biomarker testing.
Biomarker testing takes a tumor’s DNA makeup and finds the most effective medicine.
This is such encouraging news for cancer patients like Keith Hollingsworth, a Lafayette man who’s seen success with this form of treatment.
He’s a husband and father of two young boys who was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer in 2021.
He says this legislation will ensure that more insurance plans in the state cover biomarker testing, a game changer in the fight against cancer and an essential step in accessing precision medicine treatment.
