Black Wellness Family Expo offering free health screenings to Arizonans [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — According to the American Cancer Society, the Black community has the highest death rate and shortest survival of any race or ethnic group in the United States for most types of cancer. Now, the Phoenix chapter of The Links, Incorporated is hoping to change that by encouraging more people to learn about their diagnosis.

This weekend, the chapter will be holding its first Black Wellness Family Expo. Participants will get free health screenings and learn about various health conditions, including breast and prostate cancer awareness, kidney disease, heart health and more. The event will also offer free mammograms, access to health care information and services and car seat safety checks.

The event will be held at South Mountain Community College near 24th Street and Baseline Road. A free lunch will also be provided to each participant. Register for the event at blackfamilywellnessexpo.org/.
