Demystifying Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Infections

This video takes a look the background, prevalence rates, mechanisms, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STDs and STIs). The exchange of bodily fluids is not always necessary in contracting an STD or STI. Therefore, almost anyone can contract an STD or STI. Exercising caution and being mindful of who or what you come in contact with can help to lower the risk of contracting an STD or STI.

This video was made by McMaster University students Tyrena Yu, Sarah Ali, Aalavan Thayalan, and Aisha Ahmad in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.

We would like to thank Dr. Aftab Taiyab for reviewing the content of this video and providing valuable feedback.
