Elucidating the role of radiotherapy in treating brain metastases in breast cancer [Video]

Patients with breast cancer and brain metastases are typically heavily pretreated and suffer from cognitive dysfunction. Clinicians must also take into account the heterogenous nature of brain metastases when treating them. Orit Kaidar-Person, MD, Sheba Medical Center, Ramat Gan, Israel, comments on the potential benefits of radiotherapy for brain metastases in breast cancer. Radiation can preserve cognitive function in patients and certain forms of radiotherapy such as stereotactic radiotherapy can preserve hippocampal function. This interview took place at the 14th European Breast Cancer Conference (EBCC) in Milan, Italy.
