‘EZ Strong’: How the Odessa High baseball team has come together in support of one of its own [Video]

ODESSA, Texas — “EZ Strong” has been the motto for the Odessa High School baseball team this season as the program comes together to support one of its own. 

That was on full display last week. Sophomore Isequiel Cervantes threw out the ceremonial first pitch in the rivalry baseball game between Odessa High and Permian. 

“That first pitch. That’s Isequel right there. We were so excited. He loves baseball. He’s been doing it since six-year old. This really brought a joy to my son’s life,” Isequiel’s mom Julissa Cervantes said.

“It was pretty cool. It was fun. I enjoyed it, watching them,” Isequiel said. 

A moment of joy for a family that received deflating news just about a month ago. Isequiel has cancer: Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
