Sky News host Paul Murray has praised Australians of the Year Georgina Long and Richard Scolyer for warning Australians of the dangers of melanoma.
The melanoma researchers and Co-Medical Directors of the Melanoma Institute of Australia were honoured at the National Arboretum in Canberra on Thursday night, on the eve of Australia Day.
They stated in their acceptance speech they wanted to elevate sun safety to “equal status with other life-saving safety measures” such as wearing a seatbelt or a helmet.
“Even if you have never done it, start tomorrow. Every time you go outside wear a hat, wear glasses, sunscreen,” Mr Murray said.
“Yes, it will be a 30 second punish as you are leaving the house because you don’t know where you left them yesterday, but imagine the alternative.”
