Holyoke restaurant holds fundraiser for police officers son battling cancer [Video]

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A fundraiser was held Wednesday to help a Holyoke police officer’s 11-month-old son who has cancer.

Ashton is the son of Holyoke Police Officer Crystal Conroy and he was diagnosed earlier this month with acute myeloid leukemia. He is now receiving treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital.

“Like I don’t even know how we made through it without all the support we’ve gotten,” Conroy explained. “The Holyoke department has been amazing. They have been helping in ways I can’t even describe.”

On Wednesday, people from the community came together to help the Conroy family as Nick’s Nest in Holyoke held an ice cream fundraiser.

“Holyoke is great with things like this. The community really rallies around each other. We expect a good crowd later,” said Nick’s Nest owner Jennifer Chateauneuf.

Half of their overall ice cream profits will be used to support Ashton’s medical expenses.

The fundraiser will continue until 8 p.m. Wednesday or you can donate to their GoFundMe online.
