How to apply for a medical marijuana card in KY [Video]

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentuckians are getting closer to having a new legal medical tool to help manage and treat symptoms for chronic or debilitating conditions.

Starting in 2025, medical marijuana products will be legal for thousands of Kentuckians, but they will need to apply for a medical marijuana card to access them.

Marijuana, whether for medical or recreational use, is not legal in Kentucky, though a 2023 executive order from Gov. Andy Behsear does help protect Kentuckians from state-level prosecution if they have a qualifying medical condition.

The medical conditions that qualify for medical marijuana possession under that executive order differ from the conditions the Kentucky Medical Cannabis Program currently recognizes.

Thanks to Kentucky Senate Bill 47, starting in 2025, medical marijuana usage will be legal for those dealing with a list of medical conditions.
