How to discover Lung cancer?

Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world and is responsible for many cancer-related deaths. The most common cause of lung cancer is smoking, which is responsible for about 80% of all cases. Other risk factors include exposure to secondhand smoke, air pollution and asbestos.

Symptoms are persistent cough, chest pain, hoarseness, difficulty breathing and coughing up blood. However, some people with lung cancer may not experience any symptoms until the cancer has advanced.
Sometimes, lung cancer can be discovered by a routine chest Xray which can show a spot on the Xray, but this is not definite. The next step is to do a CT scan or better one is a PET scan which is a more advanced scan of the body, it can show areas in the body with possible cancer. Then the next step is to do a biopsy if possible to confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment for lung cancer may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments. The best treatment option depends on the type and stage of the cancer.

The best way to prevent lung cancer is by quitting smoking as well as avoiding exposure to secondhand smoke.
If you have any symptoms like cough that is not getting better, please consult your doctor. Early diagnosis and treatment can improve your chances of a better recovery.
