Implementing Biotechnology into Current Food Packaging [Video]

This video discusses how the consumption of food, an integral part of human life, in unsafe quantities, settings, etc., can lead to a variety of foodborne illnesses. This video also goes into detail on a variety of related and relevant topics, differentiating food poisoning versus food illnesses, sources of infection, symptoms, and examples of illnesses that can cause infection. Then, the video discusses a technology created by Dr. Tohid Didar, an Associate Professor in the McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering, and his team for detecting foodborne pathogens. The invention is called Sentinal Wrap, and its function, benefits, and future applications are discussed in the video.

This video was made by McMaster University students Mankiran Bhathal, Lida Nosrati, Kritika Choudhary, and Nehal Lubana in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.
