Hello, I’m Ishan Parikh. I’m an internal medicine trained physician who’s practicing as a hospitalist. I take care of basically all your needs once you’re admitted to the hospital. That includes working you up primarily trying to figure out what’s causing your illness and figuring out how we can come up with a treatment plan to take care of your illness.

Once you’re evaluated in the ER and it’s determined that you need to be admitted to the hospital, the inpatient side would serve you better. What I’m going to do is evaluate you and see what other tests that need to be done and basically help you restart your home medicines, make sure you’re getting the right medicines while you’re in the hospital, make sure you’re getting the right treatments while you’re in the hospital, talking to the other doctors who are going to be helping out in your care as well. I’m the person they go to, to be able to get you what you need. And then towards the end of your hospital stay, I’ll be trying to figure out how to best take care of you. Do you need to go home? Is there a rehab stay that we need to do to get you stronger? That’s all my job.

You don’t know what’s going on. You need some help. You don’t know who to call. Well, I’m your guy. Any questions you may have about your medical care, you come and talk to me. The nurses do their job and get in contact with us, and I’ll do my job in making sure you have the information you need.

I’m originally from Tennessee, not too far away, about three hours away, right outside Nashville. Louisville was where I ended up doing my medical training for internal medicine. And then, you know what? It’s pretty nice here, so we ended up just staying.

For fun, I like to play tennis when the weather’s good outside at least. And then we exercise, travel, go outdoors. Louisville has a lot to offer in those aspects as well.
