Jessy Schram Reveals She Was Diagnosed with Melanoma [Video]

Jessy Schram recently did something that her Chicago Med character, Dr. Hannah Asher, would want all of her patients to do. 

In a vulnerable Instagram post, the actress disclosed her experience with getting diagnosed with skin cancer, more specifically, melanoma, after noticing a new freckle on her foot. The Mayo Clinic describes melanoma as “the most serious type of skin cancer” and explains that it “develops in the cells (melanocytes) that produce melanin — the pigment that gives your skin its color. Melanoma can also form in your eyes and, rarely, inside your body, such as in your nose or throat.”

Luckily, Schram’s condition was caught early, and was removed completely before it spread. The actress had a good sense of humor about the situation, as she posted a cute video of herself with her hospital gown on backwards.
