Graduation season is officially underway in the metro, with Kansas City University having its ceremonies this weekend. Four hundred future doctors will walk across the stage, each with a story to tell. Regan Hill’s story started 20 years ago. “I wanted to be Buzz Lightyear,” he said with a laugh. “Standing on top of the coffee table.” He may have been dreaming of space exploration but lived in Children’s Mercy Hospital for six months. “I had leukemia when I was a kid,” said Hill.Hill made it, graduated high school, attended the University of Missouri, and ultimately became a Kansas City University student. Next month, at 26, he’ll begin his residency in Phoenix.
