Local cancer survivor given opportunity of a lifetime at January Hawks game [Video]

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) – A local childhood cancer survivor had the time of his life at a January Jayhawks basketball game as he was featured as a KU Cancer Fighter hero.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City announced on Thursday, March 7, that at the Jan. 22 University of Kansas Men’s basketball game, KC Little Brother Tyler Reiger was given the chance of a lifetime as he was featured as the KU Cancer Fighter hero.

The organization noted that Reiger, 11, lives in Overland Park and is a great success story. In 2024 he will celebrate 8 years being cancer-free after he battled leukemia when he was 3-years-old.

Thanks to his Big Brother Dillon, the organization indicated that the spotlight game was an incredible surprise for Reiger. He and his family have been longtime Jayhawks fans. Dillon had last-minute nosebleed …
