Local health experts examine Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis – [Video]

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — After weeks of speculation and conspiracy theories on the whereabouts of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, she has finally come forward. 

Middleton’s video statement, released Friday, announced her recent cancer diagnosis. Medical professionals from UVA Health speculated on what her diagnosis could be.

“I think in these contexts the biggest concern would be colorectal cancer,” Associate Professor at UVA School of Medicine Dr. Paul Kunk said.   

Kunk says that looking at her timeline, colorectal cancer diagnosis sometimes follows a similar pattern.

“It would be some type of surgery where maybe cancer was not well-known going into that surgery, and there was not a high-test probability that cancer was going to be the diagnosis,” Dr. Kunk said.  

But he says the waters are still murky on what her initial surgery back in January was for.
