Hi, my name is Lori Wilson and I am a nurse practitioner, and I became a nurse practitioner because I have had so many wonderful doctors and providers that have given me amazing care over the years, and I just wanted to be able to help people, like people helped me. I love being in the urgent care because it really lets me deal with acute problems, and a lot of times people come in really stressed or with a sick child, and so I just want to give them comfort from the time they enter the door. Hopefully get them feeling better by the time they leave, just so that they have a great experience.

For those that come in really nervous and anxious about the urgent care, I just want you to know that we are there to take care of you. We expect those kinds of crazy moments, and I just love getting to see all of the different things that can happen and being able to treat you. We use humor. We use comfort. We use anything that we can do to calm you down, and we always have suckers, so you always get something when you leave.

So before this, I was a labor and delivery nurse for about five years, which believe it or not, has a lot of excitement. It’s one of the most amazing places to work, but I was ready for a change and so I decided to do something else that was something that could be quick on my feet. And so I went to the urgent care. I am originally from Louisville Kentucky, and I went to the University of Kentucky and got a bachelor’s degree in dietetics. And then I went and did a one-year nursing program at Bellarmine University in Louisville, and that’s where I completed my degree to become a nurse practitioner. I just love to spend time with my friends and family. You can always find me outside when it’s warm with a book or just relaxing, and now I’m growing a new baby, so that’s been taking up a lot of my time.
