New blood test 83% accurate at detecting colon cancer [Video]

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – A new blood test to detect colon cancer is performing well in clinical trials.

The study found the test correctly detected colorectal cancer in 83 percent of people confirmed to have the disease who were at average risk and not experiencing symptoms.

For 10 percent of people, the test falsely indicated they might have colon cancer when the colonoscopy found nothing.

Since the screening age was lowered to 45, it’s taking months for patients to get in for a colonoscopy, so screening options like Cologuard and this potential new blood test are great advancements.
