PanCAN’s PurpleStride Walk against Pancreatic Cancer

On Saturday, pancreatic cancer survivors, researchers, and supporters walked together at nearly 60 locations across the country to honor everyone affected by it.
Those participating in the “PurpleStride” walked to help raise money to support patients and their families in the community.

Cancer survivor and activist Eric Borden joined CBS12 News on Friday morning to talk about the PanCAN event and why it is so important. He explained how the organization supports patients, and their caregivers, as well as research to combat pancreatic cancer.

“They’ve been around for many, many years and they fund much-needed research,” he continued.

Talking about the risks of pancreatic cancer, Borden pointed out that diagnoses often come during the late stages because the symptoms are masked by other diseases, like jaundice or unexplained severe weight loss.
