Reducing the need for sentinel node biopsies in cutaneous melanoma [Video]

Christoffer Gebhardt, MD, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, summarizes findings from a paper assessing the role of sentinel node biopsies for diagnosing primary cutaneous melanoma. The advent of gene expression profiling and immunohistochemistry techniques have reduced the need for invasive biopsies. The Phase III NivoMela trial (NCT04309409) will assess gene expression tests in this setting.
