Sen. Capito Tours WVU’s Lung Cancer Screening Unit [Video]

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — During a visit to Morgantown on Wednesday, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Monica Bertognolli toured WVU’s Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine’s Lung Cancer Mobile Screening Unit, also known as LUCAS.

The mobile unit was located in the parking lot of the WVU Health Sciences Center, and was open for the public to come tour. LUCAS is the only fully mobile unit of its kind in the nation and offers a full-sized CT Scan. The goal of the unit is to bring Lung Cancer Screening capabilities to more rural West Virginia counties that don’t have CT screening available.
