A tanning addict says she feels ‘lucky to be alive’ after her obsession left her with two cancerous moles and ‘on her deathbed’ twice in 15 years.

Fionnghuala Maguire, 35, started using sunbeds at the age of 14 and at the peak of her addiction would use them seven days a week – without applying any SPF protection.

She kept on using them even after her mum was diagnosed with skin cancer and begged her to stop.

Fionnghuala, from Belfast, found a suspicious mole which turned out to be cancerous in 2020, turning her life upside down and leading to immunotherapy treatment.

Despite the successful treatment she was back in hospital receiving more treatment in late 2021 after a second cancerous mole was found.
