Thunderbirds host Pink in the Rink night for breast cancer awareness [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – The Springfield Thunderbirds hosted their annual ‘Pink in the Rink’ night on Saturday.

For the seventh time, the team partnered up with Rays of Hope to raise money for breast cancer research.

Western Mass News spoke with the team’s account executive, Steve Brousseau, about tonight’s special game, and how many people ended up attending.

He told us, “Breast Cancer Awareness Night is usually in October, but for us we put the spotlight in March. With this being our seventh annual night, it becomes one of the biggest nights of the year. It’s a big, sell-out crowd. It really gives a great atmosphere here and makes this place a great place to come to every night.”

All of the Thunderbirds players wore special pink jerseys, which were auctioned off after the game.

Last year’s Pink in the Rink night raised around $25,000 for Rays of Hope.
