Volunteers raising money for Chandler boy’s bone marrow transplant [Video]

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — Family and friends are rallying around a toddler who is battling cancer, hoping he will soon receive a life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Oliver “Ollie” Martinez was just two years old when doctors found cancer in his bones. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Doctors at Phoenix Children’s Hospital recommended Ollie get a bone marrow transplant.

However, bone marrow transplants can cost over $800,000, putting a financial burden on the family.

To help Ollie get one step closer to his transplant, family, friends and volunteers have teamed up to raise money for the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Ollie.

They want to raise $50,000 for COTA to help with transplant-related expenses.

“He’s a lovable, rambunctious kiddo,” said Anissa Willers, Ollie’s aunt.

On Saturday, Willers set up a table at the Chandler Cheba Hut’s 4/20 celebration to raise money for the mighty little boy.
