A Waterford mother has been at the nation’s capitol since Monday urging Congress to pass laws and approve funding that would bolster bone marrow donation efforts.Alyssa Matuszak’s advocacy in Washington D.C. is driven by a very personal mission: her six-year-old daughter, Evie, received two bone marrow transplants in her first three years of life.Evie’s first transplant came when she was less than a year old and diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID).
