Candle-making fundraiser held for breast cancer research [Video]

WASHINGTON (25News Now) – A Susan G. Komen volunteer held a candle-making fundraiser on Saturday at Tres Rojas Winery to raise money for breast cancer research.

The event was supported, in part, by Farm to Wick, which is a do-it-yourself candle retailer.

More than two dozen people showed up for the event. They picked out scents to put in their jars, which were filled with wax.

Michelle Sauder, the organizer, says this is not only a way to raise money for breast cancer research, but also to help survivors, like her, build connections.

“Some people we’ve lost. Some people are in treatment right now. But just come out and support someone who is going through treatment, has gone through treatment, will be going through treatment,” said Sauder.
