Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley has opened up about why she won’t undergo a genetic test that will reveal whether or not she has a chance of developing cancer.

The actress, best known for her role as Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap, lost her mum Cath to breast cancer in 2012.

A breast cancer story is currently being told in Emmerdale, with beloved character Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) learning she was diagnosed with the disease as a result of having a faulty BRCA gene.

The narrative then focused on Chas advising Cain (Jeff Hordley), Caleb (William Ash) and son Aaron (Danny Miller) to get tested. As we discovered in past instalments of the ITV soap, Aaron was the one who tested positive for the gene, meaning there’s a higher chance he will develop certain types of cancer including breast, ovarian and prostate.
