Hi, my name is Madelyn and I am a nurse practitioner with Norton Healthcare. I specialize in orthopedic sports medicine. I got into sports medicine because I grew up in a sports household. We were very active, always constantly on the go doing something. My husband currently is a football coach. My children, I have two little boys, they play football and baseball, and they’re very active. We are constantly on the go. I grew up playing sports as well.

I think the most important part of helping our patients heal and get better and move on to the next part of their life is letting them know that this is not the end. That this is just one part of your life. This is one part in the next step on healing and moving on. So by being able to provide them that reassurance and to let them know that we can fix this bone, we can fix this muscle, the most important part for them is to be able to keep that positive head space. So enabling them to be able to stay in that positive mindset really is an important part of their healing process. I like to involve my patients in that. I like to be able to rope them in to keep them in that positive environment. Negativity only creates negative healing. Positivity can create positive healing. So being able to involve my patients in that care, that really is important when it comes to orthopedics.

I grew up in a military family, so we moved around quite a lot. I currently live in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. I’m a Hardin County native, although moving around, I would call Kentucky home.

We actually are a very active outdoor family, so we like to go camping. We go hiking. We do a lot of off-road riding. Actually, we have a side-by-side, so we do that with our kids. They are active on their dirt bikes. So we are constantly in a fast-paced, go go go outdoor family. So that is what we do in our free time.
