UNCG provost steps down for health reasons [Video]

Storrs sent a message to students Wednesday stating she had been battling cancer since January 2022.

“I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January 2022. The disease is stage 4, with treatment that has been challenging given its significant side effects. As such, I will be going on leave for disability effective at the month’s end. I won’t be returning to my position as provost and executive vice chancellor, nor will I return to serve as a faculty member.”

UNCG Chancellor Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. also sent a message to students commending Storrs on her work at the university.

“She is a visionary leader with a spine of steel. She has been the best person for the provost’s key leadership role during this period of historic change for UNC Greensboro and higher education at large.”
